Annual Pan-Armenian Food Festival
This Washington, D.C. event is an all-time favorite of the local Armenian community. Armenians from different corners of the world bring their own culinary traditions, combining elements of Middle Eastern, European, and native Armenian cuisine. This is a particularly interesting event we try to hold annually because Armenian’s are so diverse in their food tastes as many of us come from different countries. Learning a new recipe and coming hungry to one of these events is key to having a good time. Food is such a big part of our culture, and always a new story when we learn a new twist to an old recipe.
Of course, no party is complete without genuine Armenian beer and traditional dances!
Alexandria Armenian Festival 2008
The 16th Annual Armenian Festival took place in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia in June, 2008. As always, the festival was a big success, attracting people from all over the Washington metropolitan area. This event has become a tradition in Alexandria, a sister city of Gyumri, Armenia, and is a local favorite of folks who enjoy culture, dances, and international cuisine.
The Armenian Network of America - Washington Region was prominently featured both on the stage and among the visitors. Not only our beloved vice president Meganoosh Avakian was the main announcer of the event, but we also made a sensation in the community by revealing our trademark "Kiss Me Im Armenian" coffee mugs.
Happy Hours in Washington, D.C
We have organized many successful happy hours in the popular bars in downtown Washington, DC. We have been to the Science Club, Indebleu, Tuscana Lounge, and other similar venues. These events attract young and active Armenian professionals, looking to have a good time with friends and also meet new people. Our regional president Alex Khachaturian is also the Happy Hour guru who always finds the best deals in town with extended HH prices or appetizers.
The Network Happy Hours provide a great-relaxed venue to network as well. Many attendees have made beneficial connections for future career opportunities and beyond. So if you are looking to meet some interesting people, then this is the place to be!
