Overview:
Georgetown University is looking for individuals with multidisciplinary expertise to support a surveillance project focused on the early detection of emerging threats. Our team is seeking a media research analyst to monitor the progression of emerging threats in Russia Central Asia.

Duties: Performs foreign language media surveillance and translation services to detect, track, and report socially disruptive events. The analyst may be tasked with providing support to other regions or new threat domains as needed. Searches Internet media, reviews relevant articles, and extracts data from them. Writes brief reports summarizing media reporting on relevant events. Adds contextual information to reports with attention to the historical, economic, sociopolitical and cultural characteristics of Russia Central Asia. Flags "anomalous or important" events and communicates importance with direct supervisor. Contributes ideas for the development of software products and internet research techniques that increase operational efficiency. Assists in troubleshooting and system testing/upgrade activities as necessary. Complies with contractual and internal standards and procedures.


Qualifications: BS or BA in relevant field required US citizen or green card holder Demonstrates strong regional knowledge of Russia Central Asia Reading proficiency in Russian (required); additional language (Azeri, Armenian etc) (Applicant will be expected to pass a standardized in house evaluation.) Advanced English writing and analytical skills Good interpersonal communication skills Demonstrates self-motivation; works well in a team environment and individually Strong Internet research skills; savvy with new and innovative forms of media

Second Language Testing Inc., is currently searching for Armenian language professionals to participate in a contracting opportunity.  The work involves the writing of test passages based on authentic material in Armenian. These tests will be used to assess the proficiency of speakers of Armenian who wish to work for US Government agencies.  The language expert’s role would be to find written and audio materials that are suitable for use in testing, and write questions in English about the material. Qualified applicants to this position should have listening and reading proficiency of at least an ILR level 4 (or ACTFL level Superior) in Armenian and level 3 skills in English.  We are looking for people with strong English writing skills (ILR level 3/ACTFL), who are computer literate and have access to a high-speed Internet connection.

Additional desired qualities include:

 
•Evidence of previous experience with the US Government’s ILR scale
•Professional experience in linguistics, literature or translation
•Armenian teaching experience
•Ability to deliver quality work on a deadline
•Item writing experience

Successful applicants will undergo a paid training.  Work includes monthly assignments and will be completed remotely.  Compensation is provided for training and collection of passages, based on the number of passages submitted and accepted.   All interested and qualified applicants should send their resumes via email to apowers@2lti.com
